It\nis made by mixing an aniseed-flavoured spirit with a hydroalcoholic solution to\nwhich aromas have been added by a process of maceration and\/or by the\ndistillation of aromatic plants. The main ingredients are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol><li>An\naniseed-flavoured spirit <\/li><li>Ethyl\nalcohol of agricultural origin <\/li><li>Water\n<\/li><li>Aromatic\nplants: lemon verbena, camomile, orange and lemon trees, rosemary, lemon balm\nand fennel, all grown on the island of Mallorca<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We propose a cocktail by using hierbas and it is the mallorcan\nversion of the mojito. Instead of using ron, we will use hierbas. We will add\nsoda water, brown sugar, lime and mint. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.nofrills-excursions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/mojito-mallorca.jpg\" alt=\"Bottle of Mallorcan Tunel\" class=\"wp-image-2594\" width=\"485\" height=\"438\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nofrills-excursions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/mojito-mallorca.jpg 585w, https:\/\/www.nofrills-excursions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/mojito-mallorca-300x271.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To prepare the cocktail, place mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint and lime to release the mint oils and lime juice. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the hierbas over the ice, and fill the glass with soda water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_book_A_Winter_in_Mallorca\"><\/span>A book: A\nWinter in Mallorca<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fr%C3%A9d%C3%A9ric_Chopin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"The famous pianist Chopin (opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"nofollow\">The famous pianist Chopin<\/a> came in 1838 to Mallorca with his partner George Sand. George Sand (nickname of Amandine Lucie Aurire Dupen) is very important in Chopin\u2019s life. She was well advanced for the epoch she lived: she smoked; she was wearing men clothes\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n<p>They started their relation when she was still married, so she decided to leave her husband. When he realised that she was leaving him for another man, he got in a terrible mood until the point to threaten her with a gun. Fortunately, nothing happened, but all Paris knew about the matter. To calm down the situation, George Sand and Chopin decided to leave for a while the city, and the chosen destiny was Mallorca. This is the theory about the reason why Chopin came here. There is also another theory: they came here on holiday like \u201ca honey moon\u201d that would help Chopin to get over his tuberculosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.nofrills-excursions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/winter-in-mallorca.jpg\" alt=\"Book Winter in Mallorca\" class=\"wp-image-2580\" width=\"221\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nofrills-excursions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/winter-in-mallorca.jpg 295w, https:\/\/www.nofrills-excursions.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/winter-in-mallorca-186x300.jpg 186w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>They Came to Mallorca\nthe 8<sup>th<\/sup> November. Firstly, they were living in the French embassy,\nand then in the outskirts of Palma,\nin Son Vent. In November, Chopin was very ill and he had an important\ntuberculosis crisis. Everybody found out he had tuberculosis, and the owner\nforced them to leave the house because he was frightened to get the\ntuberculosis. Furthermore, they had to pay all the furniture, because the owner\nburnt it believing that it was polluted by the tuberculosis. Also they had to\npay the desinfectation expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They didn\u2019t want to leave Mallorca\nso they found a new place where to live: a cell in Valldemossa monastery. The\nchange was not good at all for Chopin who got worse. The group was created in 1997, and unfortunately, they decided to\nend in 2013. They are characterized by their festive music and their humorous\nand fantastic lyrics. The group&#8217;s creative universe includes elements such as\nouter space and astronautics, combined with themes from everyday life. Their\nlyrics are written in the mallorcan dialect. They are generally classified as a\npop group, though they have stated that they do not have any &#8220;stylistic\nprejudices&#8221; when composing songs. On 28 November 2013, the band announced\nthat they officially retired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can listen to them\non spotify or on youtube amongst other places. If you like live concerts, we\nhighly recommend you the concert at the Gran teatre del liceu in Barcelona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our second\nrecommendation is a song for kids that has been very popular last week. We have done some research as we were looking for something\ndifferent, and in English. We found this video with different parts about the\nreal mallorca and its life:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>&#8220;Cleaning\nwoman island&#8221;, concrete castles, Ballermann: Mallorca&#8217;s image is\nnegatively affected in some respects. The documentary explores the charm of the\nlargest Balearic island beyond the hustle and bustle of tourism and Rambazamba.\n<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>In the\nfirst months of the year Mallorca turns into a sea of almond blossoms. There\nare around seven million almond trees on the island, once planted to replace\ndead vines. But now also the almond trees are threatened. The fire bacterium\ncontinues to spread, especially on the large plantations. The farmer Biel\nTorrens wants to save Mallorca&#8217;s almond trees and fruit with a small organic\nplantation and gentle harvesting methods. There&#8217;s only one catch, the little fish with the piranha teeth just\ndoesn&#8217;t want to be on TV. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Cap de\nFormentor is the northernmost point of Mallorca. The Mallorcans call it the\n&#8220;meeting point of the winds&#8221;. Stones have always played a very\nspecial role in this rocky and rough region. The famous stone throwers, the\nFoners, once fought for the armies of Rome and Carthage. The Foners of today\nonly compete in sports competitions. Whoever runs such a chiringuito is also responsible for the entire beach operation. He has to employ lifeguards, keep the sand clean, set up sufficient toilets and of course loungers. In short: provide total relaxation for the guests. The beach entrepreneur himself can rarely relax, as he is a policeman in his main job. The lease contract for his beach section is limited in time. Palma Aquarium is running a campaign called #PalmaAquariumencasa (Palma aquarium at home). From Monday to Friday at 11:00 they do a facebook live video showing some of the tanks they have with the fish, and explaining curiosities about it.
