Palma de Mallorca Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Palma is the capital of\nMallorca, one of the most visited places in Spain, and is a vibrant city full\nof attractions for people of every age. Located by the Mediterranean Sea, Palma has beautiful\nbeaches almost in the city centre (good to know if you would like to combine\nsightseeing with relaxing under the palms). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most important places to see in Palma are located in the old town. You will\nfind there the impressive and beautiful Cathedral La Seu, and right next to it the\namazing Royal Palace of La\n Almudaina. For travellers interested in history and\narchitecture, visiting one of these places will be a highlight for sure. Even\nthe Royals are still using it during their holiday time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The S\u2019Hort del Rei Gardens, which are part of the palace are\na really nice place for a family stroll during the summer days. Escape the\nhustle and bustle of the city and disconnect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For art lovers, an important monument is the sculpture of\nJoan Miro. Even more important is the Museum Foundation Juan March, which has a diverse collection of art f.e.\nSalvador Dahli, sculptures and antique books. All located in the former\nresidence with amazing terrace and sea view. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sightseeing in Palma<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most visible and eye-catching building of the city is of\ncourse the Cathedral La Seu. You can ask one of most 400 000 inhabitants (1\/2\ninhabitants of the island) of Palma and they\nwill totally agree that is the most famous symbol of Mallorca.\nYou should take your time for full sightseeing of the Cathedral, which in fact\nhas 6 600 m2\n(is 121 meters\nlong and 55 width). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside you can find breath-taking stained-glass windows. The\nbiggest of them has diameter of 13,8\n m, which signifies the area of almost 100 m2 (almost an\napartment!), made from almost one thousand glass pieces. After several\nrenovations since the XIII century you can find a lot of different influences\nin the architecture of La Seu. A part of it is also created by Gaudi.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further away from the centre and also really worth to see is\nthe Port of Palma,\nthe biggest of five ports of the Balearic Islands\nand one of the most important ports of the Spanish coast, receiving hundreds of\nyachts and cruises through the whole year. Palma Port\nis divided into few areas: commercial, sport and fishing. The waterfront\npromenade is perfect for a walk or to enjoy lunch or coffee with great Mediterranean Sea views from one of the restaurants,\ncafes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Get to Palma by train<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you would like to go by train on your trip to Palma from Alcudia or the northern part of the island, such as Alcudia, Port de Alcudia, Can Picafort, Playa de Muro, Pollenca, Port de Pollenca we have bad news, because there is no train which connects directly the north with capital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to go to Palma\nby train from Alcudia, Port de Alcudia, Can Picafort, Playa de Muro, Port de\nPollenca, the only option is to combine the bus and the train. You have to go\nto Inca by bus and then change for the train to Palma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a time in 2016 when the project of the railway to\nAlcudia from Inca was considered. After a lot of disagreements on the field of\nthe route planning, final price and protests of the local inhabitants the idea\ndied. Unfortunately, till today no strict decisions are made and the date of\nnew project is not confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public bus Alcudia-Palma<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the options for your trip from Alcudia to Palma is to go by local bus 351. It has several stops between Can Picafort \u2013 Alcudia \u2013 Inca \u2013 Palma. The duration of the way from Alcudia is approximately one hour. The ticket costs between 6 and 8 euro depending on the season you are visiting the island. You can buy the tickets only on the bus. Most drivers speak communicative English. Only cash is accepted.  It arrives to only one main bus station in Palma \u2013 Estacion Intermodal, which is located next to the Plaza de Espana, a 20 min walk from the Cathedral.  Below,  you will find the link to the schedule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
