The Christmas lights\nwill be switched on by the association Angeles Sin Alas (\u201cangels without wings\u201d)\nthat has been selected by a participative online voting. The Palma town hall\npromotes the values of solidarity and cooperation amongst the citizenship. On\nthese premises, they decided that every year a citizens group will be selected for\nsuch a special moment of the Christmas, as the switch-on of the lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2019, a total of 235000 meters of garlands have been strung across Palma main streets and 941 trees and 200 palm trees have been given a Christmas makeover, with a budget over 70000\u20ac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When will the Christmas light will be in Palma?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nThe official act to switch on the Christmas lights in Palma will be on 28th<\/sup> November 2019 at 19.30 at the Plaza de la Reina. In 2019 you will be able to see the countdown at Plaza Joan Carles I and at Plaza Cort, with projections on the fa\u00e7ade of the town hall and Casal Solleric. The lights will be up until 21st<\/sup> January, just after the Sant Sebastian Fiestas dedicated to the local patron of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\nEvents for the switch on of the lights:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nThe Christmas lights\nhave a motto in 2019: ‘Palma, city of the future’. There are scheduled\ndifferent circus shows and events in the afternoon, with activities from 5.30\npm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Circ Bover will offer\nthe show ‘Somia’m’ at Plaza de la Reina from 5:30 p.m., where they dream the city\nof Palma for the future. The same company will also be in charge of ‘Passatge\nIns\u00f2lit’, in Jaume III street, and ‘La m\u00e0quina dels desitjos’, in the Plaza del\nMercat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other interesting\nevents are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- the show\nfor children up to six years ‘Il\u00b7lumina la mar’, by El Gato con Botas, at Casal\nBalaguer. A show for kids aged 0-10 years, at 5:40 PM, 6:10 PM, 6:40 PM and\n7:10 PM. A clown will invite you to dive into the bottom of the sea to discover\na magical world, where native species live, but also invading elements.<\/li>
- ‘Cycloleds’,\nthe parade of Artistalia by Plaza Joan Carles I to Union Street<\/li>
- ‘Next\nNature’, an interactive installation of Rotor Studio in Plaza de Cort (from\n3.50 pm)<\/li>
- ‘Ritmes i\nsons’, the batucada of the Municipal School of Music that will pass through\nPlaza Espa\u00f1a, Sant Miquel Street and Plaza Mayor.<\/li>
- ‘Akasya’,\nby Sarruga, an installation with giant trees in Plaza Espa\u00f1a to reflect on the\nimportance of nature<\/li>
- ‘Il\u00b7lumina\nels teus desitjos’, by Dalumen Lab, in Juan Carlos Square.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
To finish the events at 8:00 p.m., the Bethlehem of Cort and the royal mailbox will be opened in the lobby of Cort Town hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A suggested route to see the lights<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nOn this walk you can see some of the main streets with the lights and also combine it with some shopping, street markets and the Cort Bethlem. The route on the below map follows the streets: Borne, Plaza Joan Carles I, Plaza Mercat, Ramblas, Carrer Oms, Plaza Major and Plaza Cort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
