Discover Mallorca by coach, boat, train and tram on the Island Tour. This trip has it all: Beautiful mountain and coastal scenery, a ride on a vintage train, orange and lemon groves…

Island Tour overview:

What to expect on this trip:

The Island Tour excursion will keep you charmed all day thanks to its different parts: road, sea and rails, with plenty of free time in between. You will be taken down the spectacular west coast of Mallorca where you will see some of the most breathtaking views in the Mediterranean. There you will discover the UNESCO protected Serra de Tramuntana mountain range with our knowledgeable guide who will be giving you interesting information on the towns and sights we come across during the day.

Once everybody has been picked up by coach the tour proceeds to the stunning Tramuntana Mountain Range where we can enjoy the views that this area offers as we drive along the breathtaking and much photographed mountain road to Sa Calobra where you will be able to take some great photographs.

Then we will arrive at Sa Calobra where you will have free time to relax and enjoy the dreamy landscape. We always make sure we arrive early so we can see Sa Calobra at its best, when it's quiet and peaceful before other tour groups get there. This means that our clients can discover the Torrent de Paréis gorge at their leisure before the bustle begins.

After the visit to Sa Calobra we will board a modern boat that will take us to Puerto Soller. The journey by boat has a duration of approximately 40 minutes and along the way you will see spectacular views of this dramatic coastline that cannot be seen from the land.

On arrival in Puerto de Soller you will have have free time to explore, relax and have some lunch. Our guide can recommend a nice place for you to have lunch or you can stroll around looking for a place of your liking.

Once everybody has unwound and has had something to eat in Puerto Soller we will take the tram along the sea front and up through the orange and lemon orchards to the town of Soller where we will have time for a short visit around its charming historical centre before we board the famous Soller wooden train. We will follow the original journey which has barely changed in its 100 years of operation.

The train ride will take us across the impressive valley of Soller as we go through the tunnels in the mountains and the countryside until we reach the outskirts of Palma. There our coach will be awaiting us to head back to resort.

Reasons why you should book online:

  • Much cheaper prices compared to tour operators.
  • It is a hassle free way to ensure you make the most of your day. We have the day planned to the finest detail so that all that is left for you to do is enjoy the excursion.
  • Your places will be guaranteed on all the modes of transports included in the excursion: bus, boat, tram and train so you will avoid nasty surpirses like arriving and not being able to board, which would not be a pleasant experience.
  • Easy to book: confirm your details, secure online payment, receive your e-voucher and then we confirm your pick up details by e-mail.
  • Peace of mind: have your places guaranteed before you arrive in resort. You can either print the voucher or just show it on your smartphone, tablet or device.

Additional information about the Island Tour:

What is included in the price?

  • Return transport on an air conditioned coach (which will be the same coach all day meaning you can leave things onboard if you need to).
  • English speaking guide who will escort you throughout the day giving you a full commentary of the areas you visit.
  • Soller train journey (50 minutes).
  • Soller Tram Journey (25 minutes).
  • Boat trip from Sa Calobra to Puerto Soller (45 minutes).
  • Travel insurance

Lunch is not included, but we stop at Puerto Soller where there is time for lunch and a wide selection of cafes and restaurants.

Approximate timetable of the trip:

The excursion starts between 08:30-09:00 and it comes to an end at about  17:30-18:00.

Pick up point:

The pick-up point and time are confirmed to you after you have made your booking. You will be picked up at your hotel or a nearby meeting point. Once you make the reservation you will receive two emails:

  • A first one with all the details related to the booking which you can either print or show on the day of the excursion on your mobile phone or tablet.
  • A second email indicating the exact pick up point and the time you must be there.

Some practical information for the day of the excursion:

  • Don’t forget your photo camera, you will most definitely need it!
  • There will be time for lunch in Puerto Soller.
  • The boat trip is subject to weather and sea conditions. In the unlikely event that the boat trip is cancelled due to bad weather an alternative route will be taken by coach, missing out Sa Calobra and (when possible) taking a shorter boat trip in the bay of Puerto Soller. This is beyond our control and no refunds or partial refunds will be given if this occurs.

  • We went on the island tour with No Frills a couple of weeks ago. Our guide was called Juan and our driver was Francisco and firstly can I point out how absolutely outstanding both of these gentleman were! Juan was funny, informative, knowledgable, helpful, organised, and patient. Francisco....he navigated the roads around the mountains, the man is a driving god haha. We were picked up right on time from outside our hotel in C'an Picafort and i had booked before we travelled online. It did take about an hour to go around all of the hotels picking up other guests but to be honest we were happy to go and look at the other resorts so this wasnt a problem. Then we were on our way up high into the mountains. The views are breathtaking but the roads are very very windy so if you suffer from travel sickness please bear this in mind. We were taken then to a lovely village and had time to explore. Next onto the boat and sailed around the coast for about 45 mins arving for lunch in Port de Soller. Lunch was good and Juan pre booked us a table so the restuarant already had our orders enabling service to be very quick. This lunch cost 11 euros each and this included a drink. Then onto the tram and finally the train picking the coach back up to take us back to the hotel. It was a full day starting at 8am and we got back about 5pm. It was worth every single penny we saw some of the real Majorca and not just the usual tourist resorts. Juan explained about the islands history which was very interesting. Would thoroughly recommend this trip . For those wondering about disabled access the lady in front of us had a wheelchair and everything seemed accessible for her. However after two children vomiting on the bus and the train perhaps it might be an idea for No Frills to provide some sick bags and paper towels. This would save a whole lot of cleaning up haha. Just pop them into the seat pockets like on a plane it wouldnt be a problem but would seriously save a lot of stress for parents. Would definitly book with No frills again it was brilliant. Thankyou Juan and Francisco for a wonderful day x

  • We went on the island tour with Juan and Francisco. It was a great day out and I had no idea of the beautiful and stunning scenery that is on the island. We saw so much that we couldn't have done ourselves without hiring a car (and boat, tran and train). The driver and guide were excellent. Juan's multilingual skills were impressive and his commentary humorous and informative. Bit of a drag doing all the hotel drop offs on our return but I suppose that goes with the territory. By the way we are a family of four with two young kids - 3 and 5. they enjoyed it too especially the two beach stops. Highly recommended.

  • what a wonderful day out. Our tour guide Was a mine of information. It was extremely well organised. I wouldn't normally spend so much on a day out but was going on reviews I had read. I wasn't disappointed. Well worth every penny. So good I would do it again . Thanks guys x

  • Have used this company several times and had no complaints at all. They even arranged our pick ups as near to the villa as possible. Don't miss the Island Tour by coach, boat, tram and clackety train - done it twice & loved every minute. If you don't like 'bendy bendy' mountain roads, close your eyes - our lovely guide, Katherine, reckons the driver does!! Also recommend the day out to Palma Nova but suggest you pay just €5 extra to play mini golf. The course is great, 54 holes and good fun for a couple of hours. Truly excellent company, cheaper prices than the holiday companies, easy to book, friendly and helpful. Thank you very much to the Pollenca and Alcudia staff.

  • The island tour consists of coach across the mountain range and down to Port de sa Calobra. A boat trip around coast to puerto soller, vintage tram to soller then vintage train to outskirts of Palma and coach return. Superb views throughout. Modern air conditioned coach with Juan as guide who had great sense of humour, spoke excellent English and German and provided lots of useful information. Sufficient time at each location and I considered the tour great value for the content. Coach picked and dropped off at numerous hotels. ( fortunately we were not staying at dreadful Alcudia hotel area). As we were at hotel well away from coach pick up points Juan insisted on driving us in his own car back to our hotel . Really was beyond call of duty.

  • Sunday 18th oct did the tour with driver pedro and tour guide katy fantastic and informative day out .one of the best tours I have done . Look forward to coming back and doing other trips . Thanx again

  • I stayed in Port d'Alcudia as a single traveller for a week in mid October 2014. I found “No Frills” on the Internet but waited until I got to Alcudia to book so I could choose my excursion days. I did two tours, the full day island tour (bus, train, boat and tram) and the Alcudia experience. The island tour was comprehensive and well planned with coach travel through scenic mountain areas (including the switch back mountain roads) to the port of La Calobra, then by boat to Port Soller, tram to Soller town and then the narrow gauge railway train to the outskirts of Palma where the coach picks up for return to your hotel. At €59.00 this may appear a bit expensive but it is a full day (for me, 08:50 to 18:30) and is very well planned to give you enough time in each place to have a good look around but not too much so you are waiting. The use of the different modes of transport is equally slick in operation, not waiting more than about 5 minutes for any one. Cati and Pedro kept the whole thing going, with good information all the way round. I very much doubt if you would be able to do anything like as much if you tried to organize it yourself. What you get, therefore, in my opinion, is really good value. There’s a lot to get through on this tour and No Frills make sure you see and do as much as they can pack in. The other tour was the Alcudia Experience which is an open top bus tour followed by a walking tour around the old town of Alcudia. Don’t worry about getting stuck on the bottom deck of the bus, there isn’t one!! It is a 34 seater single raised deck open topped bus so everybody gets a higher, open, view. The bus takes you around the Port d'Alcudia and Alcanada areas (with our guide, Jerónimo, doing the talking) then onto the old town of Alcudia where you disembark and commence a 45 minute walking tour of the town. This is very informative with Victor (our guide) knowledgeable about many aspects of Spanish history and culture. Several interesting buildings are visited (the old cinema for example, now a restaurant) and you then get free time to explore the town, city walls, church and bullring plus other areas at your leisure before being taken back to your hotel. 3½ hours duration, this is very good value tour, for just €17.00. I’m not sure why this company call themselves “No Frills”, in my view you get plenty of frills included at a very fair price. Thanks “No Frills” for my excellent excursions.

  • had lovely day would travel with you again, pedro and juan full marks for making it a great day out. pat Jackie joan.

  • I booked the trip as I had always wanted to go on the train and tram but did not relish going into Palma on my own. This was a great way to see great scenery and visit Soller and the port. Sa Calobra is an amazing place and somewhere I would probably not have got to on my own. The winding roads are spectacular and brilliantly navigated by Cisco! Juan was a great guide being both very amusing and informative. It made me want to learn more about Mallorca's history and people and seeing the monastery at Lluc from the coach has made me crave a visit there too. I travelled from Puerto Pollensa and the girl I booked with was charming and so helpful. So glad I booked this trip and have nothing but praise for all the people I came into contact with. As a a lone traveller (for the first time) I found Juan was careful to include me and not just concentrate on the couples which was much appreciated. The pre booking of a meal in Port de Soller was very helpful and excellent value (despite what some other reviewers might think!) It was my fifth visit to PP and I will be back many more times and looking out for more No Frills trips and maybe even help Juan with his Almond harvest!! Hasta luego!!!

  • Six of us walked across the street from our hotel and booked a No Frills Excursion Island Tour, our second in two years. It was a fun full day with a personable entertaining guide, good bus driver, and he needed to be, that was well planned, coordinated and managed. I would not hesitate to do another with these people. Our annual Mallorca October visit next year will be to another part of the island, so perhaps we will not be able to enjoy their professionalism. The tour itself featured hairpin turns at one mile an hour, beautiful and unusual rock and mountain formations, a boat ride with plenty of salt spray for everyone (if you were on deck), a tram ride and a train ride on a one hundred year old train. The restaurant, who were expecting us if you pre-ordered earlier in the day, was good, professional and quick. Last year's excursion to the Cave of the Dragon was also well run and entertaining. Don't hesitate. I am sure there are many companies not nearly as good as No Frills. Ciao.
