Rural Mallorca has been one of our most successful excursions in the last years. For that reason we look to improve it every year making some changes both to continue attracting those who are looking for a unique and authentic way of experiencing the island as we continue to offer something new for repeat customers. This tour is not comparable to any other existing excursion available in the island. It is by far the best way to discover the real and most authentic Mallorca as we take you on a special tour through the countryside and to places away from the tourist bustle. The perfect ways to enjoy yourself as you dig a little deeper into the History of the island.
Mingle with the locals, discover some of our traditional wine cellars, visit a history packed inland town as you learn a little about one of Mallorca’s most special traditions, go and give a try at putting together some typical Mallorcan dishes all washed down with plenty of rustic wine and a delicious BBQ.
Once we have picked everybody up we head inland towards Sa Pobla where we arrive at around 09:50. Sa Pobla is a traditional town that is very different to the touristy resorts were hotels are. It is place rich in culture with a charming historic centre. There you will have the opportunity to discover the festivity of Sant Antoni, important for the whole island but that Sa Pobla is especially known for celebrating since the Middle Ages. You will get an insight by watching a video and visiting the museum dedicated to the festivity. Once the visit ends you will have free tie during which you can explore the town’s centre.
Then we drive to Binissalem, where we arrive at about 11:15 and once we are there you can take a look around the small local market as we stroll around. You can also help our guide select some other fruit and vegetables for lunch.
In Binissalem we also visit a typical wine cellar as this is Mallorca’s most important wine region. There we buy the wine for lunch. Also in Binissalem we visit a traditional Mallorcan townhouse where you will be able to see the typical architecture of an old mallorcan house.
We continue to the old farm cottage, getting there around 13:20 where our chef will have a glass of wine ready to welcome you. Then, we will start to prepare the lunch:
During lunch drinks are included: you can drink as much water and wine as you want, so we'll probably be singing on the bus on the way back!
As a bonus you will be able to enjoy the farm cottage from inside and take pictures of the beautiful scenery that surrounds it in this charming part of Santa Maria. After lunch we will be back on our coach to make our way back to resort where we will arrive at about 17:00.
Sophie from Sophies World came in April 2013, she wrote a post about her experience on rural Mallorca.

Whilst travelling with my sister and her partner I really wanted to give this a go. Michael the guide is lovely, lively and well informed. He is funny and makes you feel more than at home. Fernando the driver was excellent and I could practically sleep there or back I was so relaxed! I was suffering from wisdom tooth pain and was given enough time mid tour to stop at the pharmacy and pick up some more tablets. Some of the other tourists waited for me! Everyone is of an older generation (different to me in my 20’s) but all very happy and up for a laugh and all looking after each other and me, nothing was too much hassle! Joan bbq’d us some lovely food and we all sat in the sun (umbrella’s available) and helped cut up some food for the lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it! Suitable for all levels of physical ability (with ability to mount the coach)
'No Frills' have re-rejuvenated the tour business in Mallorca, we have taken a number of their tours in the last few years and have never been disappointed Our favourite tour of all is the 'Rural Mallorca' tour with Michael which we have now done 4 times, the last one on 28th August! The island away from the tourist spots is particularly beautiful and Michael provides the perfect level of commentary in an informative and knowledgeable manner. The venues are well selected and the bodega of Can Novell delivers an interesting insight into island wine making -complete with samples. The tour culminates with a tasty bar-b-cue at dis-used finca that has been left how it was when vacated some years ago and well worth a visit. The wine flows freely as one sits in the shade of the trees as Joan cooks the pork and chicken to go with the local salad prepared by Michael and his volunteers. The conversation level increases as the wine level reduces and a fabulous time is had by all. Our coach was brand new and very ably handled by Sophia our excellent driver who manoeuvred the vehicle brilliantly in tiny village roads that are better suited to a Fiat 500. We have never failed to make new friends on this trip, especially in the 'Scottish corner'! The wine and bonhomie often promotes a snooze on the return trip as Michael tries to instil more knowledge into our befuddled brains. In short a great day out, highly recommended and we will be booking again next year.
Lovely day .Mallorca away from the coast. Our host Michael was exceptional.Entertaining us the whole day and full of interesting knowledge of this beautiful island.Really relaxing trip ,good to see the villages ,visit a bodega where of course we had to taste the wines and then finishing in the mountains for a lovely barbecue and more wine .All the time being looked after by our lovely host
I was not sure a about this excursion but my son convinced me to go on it. I so glad I did. The tour guide, Michael, was absolutely brilliant. He was a mine of interesting information all day long. We were taken to two villages with markets to browse round, with time to get a coffee and visit the conveniences. Michael was very good at making sure we knew where we could visit the toilet (a must for a woman of a certain age!) We were taken to a wine tasting, which was a lot of fun and a brilliant ice breaker as we all got a little merry on the 6 wines we tasted. Then we were off to the place where we would have lunch. A few of us were roped in to help prepare the salad. The food was delicious and there was plenty of wine and water to accompany our meal. Cisco, our driver, was excellent and had bottles of cold water to purchase, which was very welcome on such a hot day. I would thoroughly recommend this excursion.
Wow what a fantastic day out, we visited a couple of beautiful villages where the local people were so very friendly (loved sat outside the cafes watching the world go by) we also had the pleasure of some wonderful wine tasting (my favourite part :) ) the owner Andreas was very welcoming and his passion for wine was second to none. (I want to work there) . Then onto a finca where we had the most scrumptious food and not forgetting the lashing of wine, beautiful scenery, fantastic company and not forgetting our wonderful host Michael what a lovely and funny gent. This has to be one of the best trips I have ever been on. Thank you for making my holiday the best :)
I Wenz on this Tour a week ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was the only German on the bus which made it Even more enjoyable. Michael, our guide, dressed in an original mallorcan costume, had a lot of knowledge and a good sense of humour. Firstly,we stoppend at a nice little village fallend Maria de la Salut. It was so picturesque and peaceful as of no tourist had ever set his foot in it. We went to Binnisalem.Half of the group wenn winetasting, the other half to the house of the late writer Villalonga, where the very knowledgeable curator Catalina showed us around. After that wie went to the market where the ingredients for our lunch were bought. We went for a short trip to our finca, where we together chopped up the vegetables for our lovely summer salad. After an enjoyable meal it was off to our hotels again. A very special and unique event, this tour is Highlight recomendable, mostly due to the enjoyable personality of Michael, our Guide
While staying in Puerto Pollensa Majorca last week my wife and I decided to go with No Frills Excursions on their "Rural Mallorca Experience" We travelled to some delightful small towns and villages Maria de La Salut and Binnisalem where we purchased the ingredients for our lunch and then visited the Can Novell Bodega where we were welcomed by the owner, Andreas and had a sort talk on wine making and then sampled about eight different types of wine (all of this before lunch). We then had a short journey to our Finca where our fellow travellers taught how to prepare the summer salad called Trampo while Pork and Chicken were cooked on the BBQ by Joan our own local chef. We eventually, after a few more glasses of wine had a beautiful lunch. We were accompanied on this trip by Michael our Guide and Cisco our Driver, what can I say about these two. CISCO our driver A brilliant driver with probably the best personality I have experienced. MICHAEL our Guide He made this trip a day I will rember for a long time with his down to earth style and his sense fo humour that had everyone roaring with laughter for most of the eight hour trip. A big thank you to both guys and to anyone reading this if you are in the Pollensa or Alcudia area, give you self a treat and join Michael and Cisco for a fun day out.
We did this tour on a wet day. Michael the guide was great, very entertaining. The markers we stopped at were quite small, probably due to it being start of season and weather not great. It was nice to see the locals out and about. The visit to the bodegs and wine tasting was interesting. Andreas the owner was really nice. We found it all interesting, to hear history and background of the island and the areas we visited. The trip to the finca was nice, but the lunch was inside due to the weather. All in all a very nice excursion.
Our guide, Michael, created this tour himself for the "No Frills" company. He took us to uncrowded, friendly wonderful little villages packed with interesting people and sights. The tour included a wine-tasting in a small, family-run Bodega and a wonderful barbeque (at the preparation of which some guests participated in a fun way) - fresh food for it was purchased during the tour at a lovely little market town - in a Finca inside which we roamed while the preparation was under way. Michael was extremely knowledgable about island life and supplied us with interesting facts along the way - no problems understanding him! Great value for money. Visited April 2015
My wife and myself went on the Rural Mallorca day trip under the guidance of Michael and being driven by Cisco. We were picked up at Port de Pollenca, one of the early pick up points. Normally it is annoying to spend part of the trip travelling around the resorts until all the people are on board. However Michael continually chatted about the areas that we travelled through and this was entertaining and the time was used to good effect. Michael continued throughout the day to give information on the areas we passed through and delivered little anecdotes that were both interesting and entertaining. The places we stopped at were interesting and they were places that in the normal run of things on a Mallorcan holiday we no doubt would have passed by. The stop at the finca for lunch was excellent. I really liked the idea of everybody mucking in and helping with the food preparation and the organisation by Michael, Cisco and Joan was exemplary. Unfortunately some of the guests overdid the wine and became very childish and boring Michael deserves great credit for ignoring their attention seeking and continuing with his talking. Still it did not spoil the day out. Well done to the company for running such an interesting trip and accolades for Michael for accumulating so much local knowledge. Visited May 2015
