This sunrise dolphin watching tour in Alcudia offers a unique opportunity to see dolphins swimming freely in the wild while enjoying the calm of the early morning sea. As the boat departs at dawn, you will admire the changing colours of the sky and coastline along northern Mallorca.
Once out at sea, the captain will search for dolphins in their natural habitat. When they are found, the engines are turned off so you can enjoy a peaceful and respectful encounter, watching them swim, jump and play around the boat without disturbance.
On the return journey to the harbour, you will enjoy a buffet breakfast on board, making this experience a perfect combination of nature, relaxation and unforgettable moments.
Customer Reviews of the Alcudia Dolphin Boat Trip
The excursion was well organized, and the boat departed on time. We were lucky enough to see dolphins, although I wish they had come closer and stayed around for longer. Of course, this is not something the company can control. The breakfast was quite basic, but it was perfectly fine. Overall, we had a good experience and enjoyed the excursion.
While it was lovely to see the sun rise over the horizon at sea, and you can't predict or be responsible for the wildlife, if I had the option again I don't think I'd chose this trip. Apparently there was a power issue or something so the boat was 20 mins late picking us up. No big deal, but does alter the 'sunrise' aspect a bit. Long sail out to find dolphins, which we did see, but only just, and it was quite hard to spot them. We didn't have them leaping and frolicking around us, that's for sure. Like I said, I know you can't control that, but for the amount of sailing time required I'm not sure, on THIS occasion, it was really worth the effort and journey, for us at least. Crew not particularly welcoming - most were just 'fine', but one young guy in particular kinda rude. Breakfast was very basic. I knew in advance it was bread, ham, cheese and mini croissants, but these were packaged and so a bit doughy. We didn't starve though. For other visitors - we brought a warmer layer but I never felt I needed it (end of August). Also brought a small hand towel in case the seats needed drying but didn't need that either. Boat captain did a great job of making small changes to boat direction etc when meeting any rough water - you'd have one dip or lurch and he'd immediately correct/alter course slightly to smooth things out. I think if I were to do it again I'd choose a smaller boat to go out on. I'm sure if you see the dolphins on quite a lovely day it's an entirely more satisfying experience.
We went to watch the dolphins on Fri 28th Aug at 6.00am (sunrise) I first WhatsApp’d on the number provided on 17th Aug to ask about if they could cater breakfast for my 10 year old coeliac. They responded by saying there will be GF items on board, which is great. I have to plan ahead and ask to know whether I should take anything for her. I then went ahead & booked the excursion on Thu 27th Aug when we got here and again made a note in the comment section about my daughter being coeliac and needing a GF breakfast as well as also messaging on WhatsApp that I had booked and she is coeliac. That was 3 times I communicated to make them aware of a coeliac child on board, to which they responded ‘there would be GF options available’. When we boarded I made the gentleman aware, but he kept saying to me ‘photo’ of my booking where he took me inside and took photo evidence of my booking. I then asked about GF where he said ‘yes’ then went upstairs. My daughter is also autistic and she was not 100% on the boat, kept saying she felt sick, just before she threw up the man was starting to bring round sick bags for people. My daughter was sick 4 times in total, where other parents started coming over and saying she needs to get some food and water down her. I went and got her a cup of water and then when they started serving breakfast I went to get her some food and said ‘gluten free’. They started talking amongst themselves and one of them told me ‘no gluten free’. I explained that I had messaged twice and left a note in the comment section of the booking to say my daughter is coeliac and can only eat GF food to which he responded ‘no gluten free’ I’ve then gone over and explained to her they have no food and she was sick another time which could have been helped if she could line her stomach a bit. I have then messaged the excursion company I booked through to which they responded that they would message the boat company asking for an explanation. I responded and have since heard nothing since. Myself and my 10 year be old didn’t get to see any dolphins because she was so unwell due to constantly throwing up, which granted is nothing to do with the company, but we were assured there would be food on board for her which definitely would of helped her. I’m these situations, if a company cannot cater I always take my own food for her, which is why I always ask/check, but in this case as I checked 3 times and was told there were GF items available, I took nothing for her, as I’m also aware that Spain is usually very good with gluten free food, on this occasion, they weren’t. For that, I don’t recommend if you have a child with allergens or an autoimmune disease like coeliac as they can’t cater. My daughter was also not the only child unwell, surprisingly a lot of children and adults were sick which meant a few of them couldn’t get to see the dolphins due to throwing up, so if booking please be mindful of that.
Good value trip compared with some of the other options. It was a bigger boat than we expected but well managed with a friendly crew. We spent a good amount of time with the dolphins and the crew were great at getting into position so that we had a good view. The sunrise was stunning too. Breakfast is very basic but that's to be expected for the price.
We attempted the boat trip twice as the first time, we went to the pick up point at the exact time stated in the email but we must have been given the wrong time as, after waiting for over an hour, no one picked us up! Our two young children were very upset but it was just one of those things and the company were apologetic and rearranged our trip. On our second attempt, we were picked up and enjoyed seeing the dolphins. It was very peaceful and our children loved it. However, we didn’t realise the boat was doing multiple drop offs on the way back! We thought we’d heard them shout Alcudia so we got off the boat, along with another family from our coach, and it turned out we had been dropped off at a different place! We tried to go back to the boat but it had already left so we had to find public transport to get back to our hotel. It would have been good for our tour guide to explain this whilst we were on the coach in the morning so we’d have known to stay on the boat. Overall, lovely to see the dolphins but with some logistical issues.
It was very interesting and fantastic trip. We saw many dolphins some of them was swimming along the boat, some was jumping. We had very nice young man showing us where they appears. Adults were the same excited as they kids! The breakfast was also good after excitement looking for dolphins. And crew was smoothly rode a boat. It was also very refreshing after hot days during August:) If I were the second time close by I'm sure I would travel again. Thank you so much! Dziękuję bardzo za wspaniałe przeżycie!
Wonderful experience seeing dolphins at sunrise. Highly recommended. Good boat and crew, loads of dolphins and we were very lucky to see a baby. Magical and special experience for me and my two children aged 10 and 4.
Dolphin watching at sunrise! Absolutely beautiful and worth every penny…. A magical experience that I will remember forever!
