Customer reviews for Entrance ticket La Granja de Esporles
We enjoyed our visit to La Granja during our recent holiday in Mallorca. We particularly enjoyed our drive up the winding mountain road. The museum was wonderful, lots to see and learn. We couldn't believe how many industries were involved! Potters, lace makers, candle makers, perfumery, carpenters, smithies, etc etc. Would definitely recommend a visit when you are going to Mallorca for holidays.
Great family day out! Cultural, educational and fun! La granja is a 12century estate that has been preserved like a museum to show you what life has been like on the island over the centuries. It's really fascinating and interesting and we'll worth a visit. Take a picnic and sit on the grass!
Interesting insight into local food and history. Beautiful gardens. Booked online, easy to get to by bus from Palma. Enjoyed sampling the potatoes fritters.
We got there at about lunch time and had about 3 hours in La Granja. We enjoyed the visit and the kindness of the people there; the house and its surrounding grounds show the love of the people that are caring for it.
Very interesting museum showing an old traditional way of life in Spain and generally in the last few centuries in Europe. Interesting also for families with children.
La Granja (The Farm) is a museum of traditional Mallorcan life set in the beautiful hills above the town of Esporles. The “farmhouse” is in fact a grand property in the Spanish style on three floors packed with artefacts reflecting the labours and fruits of Mallorcan farming. There are rooms devoted to the pressing of olives and the production of oil, the making and storage of wine, the manufacture of dyes, the weaving of traditional fabrics, the distillation of perfumes, carpentry, leather crafts and much more. Other rooms display the trappings and accoutrements of a rich Mallorcan family, with all the necessities and luxuries of life provided for. Hopefully the torture chamber and the Spanish Inquisition was not an everyday part of this apparently idyllic existence. The house is set in impressive grounds and gardens, with plenty of walks in the area. Water – falls, streams, ponds, mills and fountains – features largely and if you are lucky you will see frogs on your way around. And goats, pigs, horses, rabbits, chickens. When you reach the end of your tour there is sherry to taste and products such as bunuelos (very moorish, very popular), fig-bread, cheese, ham and wine to be sampled.
We visited as a group of 8 - based on a recommendation from a friend and booked online. Everyone enjoyed the attraction which was original and interesting. The building itself and the surrounding gardens are beautiful and varied with some lovely water features. As you start the visit with the outside areas you see examples of early country life and tools, some very sweet farm animals are around for the kids to see - we particularly adored the goats who absolutely liked to be stroked and were incredibly well looked after and happy to be stroked and petted. Around the house there were rooms set out with original furniture and pieces that everyone in the group found something of real interest.
I love La Granja and just visited it the second time. Better to reserve online for the visit to really get all out of it. La Granja offers a great and versatile experience on what life was like in ""possessio" a long time ago. You can explore the houses, machinery, forest trail with a fountain, a torture chamber, garden, taste wines, bunyols and other products they sell on the shop.
Stopped here having had a beautiful scenic drive from Andratx with stops in Estellencs and Banyalbufar. Lots of parking and a nice walk down a long drive to the monastery. We spent a very enjoyable 2 1/2 hours here walking round the building. It is well signed and if you take the information leaflet then there are short explanations about each exhibit. Also make sure that you get to the waterfall and the country walk which are very picturesque. The views as you walk around are great and I would like to visit in the spring when the plants and trees are in full bloom.
We made a round trip at La Granja in Esporles. A really beautiful and authentic place. It's a beautiful area hidden in a quiet location of Mallorca. You should go there if you want to relax and enjoy a wonderful landscape far away from the hustle and bustle of Mallorca. Beautiful and exciting half day excursion that I would really recommend.
