White lines: Majorca filming locations
White lines is the new series by Netflix that has been filmed in Mallorca, and it is expected to be a great hit. From the creator of La Casa de Papel (known as Money Heist) and the producers of The crown, the series will be released on 15th May on Netflix. Here is some brief info on the series, the casting, the trailer and the places to look out.
White lines trailer
Here you can see the trailer that was released on 22 April. The series is expected to be available on 15th May on Netflix. It will be 10 episodes of 60 minutes duration each. The trailer is quite spectacular and tells us about the plot of White lines combining drugs, murders, car chases and sex parties at a fast pace.
The trailer sees her reunite with her brother’s former friends, with her voiceover declaring “they all seem pretty suspicious”. As she adds: “I’m not leaving until I get what I came here for”. As the dramatic trailer continues, she’s told “Everyone had a reason to hate Axl” before she adds: “When you find out the truth, it just leaves you cold.” A montage of shots reveal car chases, a lorry smashing into a vehicle and two topless women kissing while wearing masks at a sex party.
The dialogue is a mix of English and Spanish and consists of 10 60-minute episodes.
What is White lines about?
White Lines is a thriller based on the investigation about a famous DJ who disappeared in Ibiza 20 years ago. When his body appears after such a long time, his sister decides to move to the island to find out what happened. Her investigation leads her through a thrilling world of dance clubs, luxurious yachts, lies and cover-ups. This forces her to confront the darker sides of her own character in a place where people live life on the edge.
It has already been confirmed that there are plans for the filming of the second series of White lines in Mallorca. According to the scheduled plan, it will be n September and October 2020. Members of the production team were already in November in Mallorca checking different locations and possibilities.
White lines filming locations in Mallorca
Below are some locations in Mallorca where scenes for the White lines were filmed. As soon as the release the series and the episodes, we will be adding some photos and more info about the places.
Santa Maria
Santa Maria is a small village situated around 12 kilometers from Palma in the Raiguer area at the foot of the Tramuntana mountain area. The place where White Lines filmed was at Son Oliver, a finca in the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains, a few kilometres from Santa Maria del Cami. Son Oliver is an old manor house, called “possesions” in the local dialect. On the series,this is the home of the family Calafat.
Some scenes taking place in the chapel and the courtyard of the stately home were shot in the Biniagual winery in Binissalem
See this property on a walk from Santa Maria to the beautiful hamlet of Orient. This is an easy 12 kilometers walk starting at the village of Santa Maria that will take you to the Coanegra valley passing some beautiful fincas, including Son Oliver where White lines was filmed. Pollensa
The municipality of Pollensa is been already on many films and series due to its fantastic landscape and options for filming. If we have to mention some recent series: Turn up Charlie or the Night Manager. On the last series, they filmed at the Sa Fortalesa Property, the place where the tenis player Rafa Nadal got married in 2019. On the Netflix series, Axel’s birthday mega-party was filmed here. Sa Fortalesa is a private property that was build on the 16th century as a fortress for defensive purposes.
Another location in Pollensa Port was Llenaire beach situated right by the entrance of the Port coming from Alcudia. It is a small beach with pine trees and great views of the bay. And not to forget some scenes on the old Citroen car on the road that goes from Alcudia to Port de Pollensa.
You can enjoy great views of Sa Fortalesa property on a boat ride from Port de Pollensa to Formentor beach. This is a 25 minutes boat trip departing from May to October from Port de Pollensa, and allowing you to stay at Formentor beach, with the option to choose different available ferries timetables for the way back. The boat passes very close to Sa Fortalesa and you can take the opportunity to take great photos.
Porto Colom and Cala Figuera
Porto Colom situated in the municipality of Felanitx in the East coast of Mallorca was another location where Whites lines filmed. During 5 days they filmed at the streets Sa Capella and Sa Punta, and at the Sant Jaume square. As a traditional fishing coast village, Porto Colom retains its charm and attractive. The village is very picturesque with the boathouses, the lighthouse, the fishing boats and the quay.
Some examples on scenes on White Lines:
- Kika with the Portocolom lighthouse in the background.
- The religious procession demonstration of episode six.
- The area where Zoe’s father parks his campervan is the beach of S’Algar, also in Portocolom.
- The harbour at the end of the procession is Cala Figuera
You can enjoy both places on a road trip along the East Coast. Combine it with a visit at the Drach Caves, a stop at one of the hidden coves you can find in the East coast and a delicious dinner at one of Porto Colom restaurants for a perfect day out.
Peguera
Located on the Southwest of the island, and close to the popular resorts of Santa Ponsa and Magaluf, Paguera is a small resort with mostly German clients. It has 3 beaches, Playa Romana, Playa de Tora and Playa de Palmira. Both are lovely beaches, with soft white sand and ideal for a relaxing day sunbathing.
Camp de Mar
In the first episode, there is a meeting between Oriol Calafat, Marcus and some drug dealers. This was filmend in Camp de Mar, at the Bar Restaurant Illeta. The place also appears on other episodes.
Cala Dor
There are some great villas on White lines. For example, Marcus’ house. This villa is called Can Pirata and it is situated in Cala D’Or. In case you are interested, you can rent in Airbnb. As you can imagine, since the release of the series, the villa is been quite demanded.
Valldemosa
Valldemosa is located on the Tranuntana mountain range and it is one of the most beautiful villages of Mallorca. In this municipality, White lines choose to film at S’Estaca finca. This property belongs to the famous actor Michael Douglas and her ex-wife Diandra Luker. Located on a spectacular place close to the sea, many scenes have been filmed. It is a Sicilian style mansion built in 1878 by the Archduke Luis Salvador, who came from an Austrian imperial family, and gave it to Catalina Homar. As a curiosity, the property is on sale for 50million euros.
See this property on a walk from the Port of Valldemosa to the Port of S’Estaca. It is not a long walk that will reward you with amazing views of the sea and the Foradada peninsula with a hole on the rock. The port of s’Estaca is very small and it is a very cosy place where to enjoy a swim and the quietness of this area.
Playa es Peregons
White lines couldn’t miss beaches, and in Mallorca there are plenty to choose from. The beach at Es Peregons is located close to Colonia de Sant Jordi and to the famous beach of Es Trenc. It is a virgin beach and not very busy. With crystal waters and soft white sand is been a perfect filming location for some scenes of the White lines.
You can visit this beach on a day out while on holiday in Mallorca. The best plan is to rent a car and to drive to Colonia de Sant Jordi. Park by the hotel El marques, and walk on the beach for about 700 meters to the beach. Take with you water and food. You can combine a day at this beach with a guided tour at Salines des Trenc and to learn about the salt production and with a stop at Cap Blanc on the way back to Palma to see the sunset.
Sa Calobra Road
This is the most spectacular road on Mallorca. A road built “to go from nowhere to nowhere” as the engineer Antonio Parietti said. He was in charge in 1929 of building this 12-kilometer road to the beautiful spot of Sa Calobra. The road is a masterpiece and rewards the visitors with outstanding views of the Mallorca mountain area.
You can experience this road on the most popular day out in Mallorca, the Island Tour. This tour combines a bus tour on this road, a boat trip from Sa Calobra to Port Soller, a tram ride in the Soller valley and a ride on a 100 years old vintage train.

White lines has been written by the creator of Money Heist, Álex Pina. It is is directed by Nick Hamm, Luis Prieto y Ashley Way. Amongs the cast, there are some recognizable faces:
